Dollar General Pilot: Retail Collaboration

P&G will have the unique opportunity to work with Dollar General and Nielsen to help shape the program from the beginning. In this capacity, P&G will be working closely with Nielsen and a key retailer partner to define collaboration approaches that add incremental value for all parties with P&G as the voice of the supplier. The collaboration program, as currently defined, will focus on the following areas where Nielsen data is playing a critical role in Dollar General’s merchandising process. Each of the program elements will leverage Dollar General specific models, hierarchies, business processes and product attributes such as PSKU:

  • Promotion Planning – Enable Dollar General and suppliers to leverage Nielsen’s best in class models to build insight informed promotions within Nielsen’s Revenue Management and Optimization platform. Suppliers and Dollar General will be able to plan promotions efficiently within one system leveraging our collaboration workflow to reduce wasted time and increase trade spend efficiency.
  • Assortment Optimization – Build optimized Planograms using Nielsen’s Consumer Decision Trees, Incrementality Models, Dollar General shopper data and customized model weightings to maximize category sales and shopability.
  • Pricing Leadership – Track competitive price position using Dollar General’s preferred pricing metrics to allow suppliers and Dollar General to identify the optimal price that maximize value perception.
  • Business Planning Templates – Automate the creation of key business planning presentations such as Promotion Reviews and Category Assessments using the Nielsen Connect Collections application. Within Nielsen Connect, suppliers are able to leverage aligned templates that are easily updatable to allow better engagement with Dollar General in their preferred view of the world while saving time in presentation building.
